Abstract
The concept of interlingual interference and its negative impact on the process of learning foreign languages, in particular, French after English, is considered. A typology is identified based on errors in the incorrect transfer of acquired skills. The areas of interference between languages at different levels are described. Possible causes of interference and options for overcoming it are indicated, both on the part of the teacher and the student.
