Abstract

This article explores legal linguistics as a specialized field of research that examines the intricate relationship between language and law. It highlights the importance of comprehensible legal language for effective communication between government institutions and citizens. The scope of legal linguistics includes courtroom communication, legal argumentation, forensic linguistics, and the development of linguistic requirements for legal documents. The article emphasizes the unique features of legal language, including its high degree of abstraction and its integral role in expressing legal norms. Additionally, it discusses the influence of social and extralinguistic factors on the language of law and the essential role of legal drafting techniques in creating effective legal texts.
