Abstract

The modern business world is becoming increasingly complex and demanding for leaders who face new challenges, including high competition, rapid technological changes, and elevated expectations from both clients and employees. In these conditions, successful management requires leaders to possess not only knowledge and professional skills but also the ability to effectively interact with people. One of the key factors determining a contemporary leader’s success is emotional intelligence (EQ). Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage both one’s own emotions and those of others. It encompasses critical aspects such as self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Leaders with a high level of emotional intelligence can manage stress more effectively, motivate their teams, make well-considered decisions, and build trust with their subordinates. These skills are particularly valuable in situations that require quick responses to change, conflict resolution, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Research in psychology and management indicates a direct correlation between emotional intelligence and a leader's success. Leaders who can recognize and regulate their emotions not only achieve better results but also foster more cohesive and motivated teams. They handle conflicts more effectively, avoid emotional burnout, and ensure high productivity among their employees.

Purpose

The aim of this article is to explore the impact of emotional intelligence on leadership effectiveness. We will examine the key components of emotional intelligence and their influence on managerial skills, providing examples of successful leaders who leverage emotional intelligence to achieve their goals. Additionally, recommendations will be offered for developing emotional intelligence in leaders, enabling them to be more effective in facing contemporary challenges.
